Businesses that generate hazardous waste are encouraged to contact the State of Vermont Environmental Assistance Office (EAO) for compliance assistance in managing hazardous waste. To contact the EAO, please call 800-974-9559.
The EAO offers compliance assistance at NO COST, and it is a confidential, voluntary program that assists Vermont’s small businesses and municipalities in achieving compliance with environmental regulations and promotes cooperation between the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) and the regulated community.
The Compliance Assistance Program encourages businesses to use pollution prevention (waste reduction) as a means of achieving compliance and reducing their overall regulatory burden whenever possible. Prevention is often the most cost effective way to deal with environmental compliance issues.
